Robust Economic Investment Projected for Colstrip Community

PSE/Talen to Invest $77 million by 2023

  • Colstrip owners will invest more than $200 million in expenditures for Colstrip remediation and decommissioning by 2051.

  • Between 2020 and 2023, approximately $77 million in expenditures will be invested in Colstrip for remediation to manage coal combustion residuals (CCR).  This includes the cost to design and construct a water treatment facility, which consists of a scrubber slurry disposal location and a bottom ash disposal location[1]

    • In 2020, total projected cost estimate is $18.1 million

    • In 2021, total projected cost estimate is $16.1 million.

    • In 2022, total projected cost estimate is $27.6 million.

    • In 2023, total projected cost estimate is $15.2 million.
